- Site updates
On
the site there was opened a new section - "Unisonic-press"
and the first update is interview with Michael Kiske for Rock Hard, August 2010.
Below
is the part of interview with Michael Kiske for the webzine metal-rules.com which
was made after Sweden Rock Festival :
Well
first of all, after 17 years, how does it feel to return on stage?
MICHAEL
KISKE: Very good, very good. I mean I'm a bit excited, and before these kind
of things also a bit nervous but when we're on stage it's kind of good, it is
very exciting, very exciting for me especially when you haven't done anything
like that for such a long time... very long time.
In
the past I've spoken with many people, like Tobias Sammet, who have seriously
tried to get you on tour but you always refused to do it...
MICHAEL
KISKE: Yeah, yeah I always didn't want to do it.
What
finally made you change your mind?
MICHAEL
KISKE: These two guys, Dennis [Ward] and Kosta [Zafiriou], they just asked
me at the right time, that's how it is in life... you just go through phases and
then just some day it's the right time and they just ask you and you feel 'yeah
let's do it'. Better now than never, you know, I'm not getting younger.
That's
a fact for everybody.
MICHAEL
KISKE: Yeah, it's true.
So,
well tell us more about your new band Unisonic!
MICHAEL
KISKE: Not much yet! [laughs]
But
it's more than just a name?
MICHAEL
KISKE: Well it's bit more than that, I just told one of the guys from the management
here that we wanted to be ready with a record already, to have something to play,
but I'm actually quite happy that we do this first. Because now we feel a lot
more like a band and it's good to have that first and then go into a studio and
try and make a record. We have a lot of songs, already... but not enough, we have
enough songs, but not enough where we say 'yeah that's it!' you know? It's good
that we've done this tour now, it's not a lot, it's like four shows, this is the
biggest of course [Swedenrock] I'm very surprised they've booked us anyway, you
know, no record, new band...
So
Unisonic is a big name already "laughs"
MICHAEL
KISKE: Yeah! It's unbelievable. I'm really thrilled, really thrilled and I'm
very honoured to be honest with you, we did a signing session there, was like
all these people there, hundreds. Unbelievable! And they also had my solo records!
And stuff like that, was really impressed, it's really good that I'm doing this,
because I was out of touch, I was a bit gone for a while. But Unisonic, I think
the main work lies ahead of us now, but I think it should be possible to have
a record finished and released definitely this year, I guess fall or something,
early Winter maybe it should be possible to release something this year.
You
already mentioned Kosta and Dennis but what about Mandy Mayer (ex-Krokus, Asia).
How did he end up for this band?
MICHAEL
KISKE: Mandy's awesome! Do you know him?
I
have interviewed him in the past.
MICHAEL
KISKE: He's just the sweetest guy, and a great guitarist and I didn't even
know him, it was just Dennis who just right away said 'Mandy'. And I'm very happy
as you can't possibly have problems with him, that's impossible.
I
know Mandy from the past when he was still playing with Krokus and it was really
fortunate thing what happened for him when original band decided to reunite couple
of years ago and...
MICHAEL
KISKE: Yeah, absolutely and that's why we're all so happy he has a good chance
now with us.
So
in that way you both have a kind of a common history here?
MICHAEL
KISKE: It's very nice you mention that because I've thought the same way, you
know, it's like he deserves it. And it was Dennis who just immediately said "Mandy!",
and he's a sweet guy. I didn't know him mainly before... yeah, I didn't know him....
Do
you already have a record label for Unisonic?
MICHAEL
KISKE: We have a label extremely interested, I mean they want it.
Do
you perhaps mean Frontiers Records here?
MICHAEL KISKE: Absolutely,
they want to have it at any cost but we haven't made a decision yet, and I'm not
having any- it's the management that make that decision. I don't even want to
think about it, you know? But I know there is also a major label, we are having
discussions with a major label too. We want a label that really will do something
for us.
You
want label which really supports you and understands what's best for you.
MICHAEL
KISKE: Yes, exactly, yes, in many- you know support or whatever it is to break
us into any country, that's more important than pre-money or anything like that.
That is a label that wants to do something for the band, that's important. It's
very, very difficult these days.
Today
is the 1 year of Pink Cream 69 Official Fan-Site. We hope that we conducted this
year worthily and justified the confidence of the band and expectations of the
fans. We promise that in the future PinkCream69.ru will be better and will continue
bringing for all Pink Cream 69 fans the hot news from the Present and rare facts
from the Past. Thanks to all who were with us all this year!
This
is the special message from David Readman: Hi to all the fans in Russia!
Well it's been 1 year PinkCream69.ru! When I first saw the website I wasn't sure
as it was new site, but looking back now after one year the site has grown, and
I'm very proud to tell all about PinkCream69.ru. Tanya has done a fantastic
job so far, we even met at the Knockout fest in Karlsruhe I didn't realize it
was her at the time, but once again thanks for your support and great work so
far!
Personally
I - Tanya, the administrator of this site - want to thank all my crew without
which there wouldn't be PinkCream69.ru. Thank you, guys!

Michael
Kiske about Unisonic
Recently
the Spanish site rafabasa.com
made an interview by telephone with Unisonic singer Michael Kiske. A few excerpts
from the interview follow:
About
the creation of Unisonic: I'm very well now, I got not only a new band,
also a management and people worried about those things. Is really great. I mean,
one day I meet with Kosta and Dennis here in Hamburg to offer me that idea. In
that moment I felt that it was the right thing, what I have to do now. I don't
know, some things need time and sometimes you need to pass for a different way,
and let the time passing by when you feel a bit different of your environment,
but now I'm glad with that situation, really.
How
will Unisonic sound: I would say that we're treating it as a Rock band.
If we have to do things more Hard Rock then we will do it, and if we want to make
things more easier we will do that. That was very important to me, we are a Rock
band. I don't like to be buried in any certain musical scene, but also it is important
to be open. Anyway I can't say where that band will go, or how colorful the music
will be yet, because this is not a solo project it's a real band where three people
write songs. There is a situation of democracy now. I don't have or had any problem
with rock music since a long time ago, it was only a short period when I was tired
of everything, but it was a little time.
About
the compositions: 'Souls Alive', is a song written by Mandy, so I don't
think it sounds like Place Vendome or Pink Cream 69. But probably it doesn't matter
what we are playing, because it would have the stamp of Dennis and Kosta which
I think is good. For me, the songs we have are all different. We just chose it
because it had the best pre-production, but it's not the final recording yet,
just a demo. It's not the album version I mean. I still have to re-record the
vocals again when we record it for the album. I will probably use a more heavier
tone in the chorus for example. The soul of my songs are different. For example,
the songs I wrote for the album are more like power...I don't want to say ballads,
because they are not really ballads. It's like 'Silent Lucidity' of Queensryche,
for example, it has that thing that I love, also Kosta. I'm not saying that it
would sound like that but it has some similar style, even in the lyrics. I like
the rock thing in the bridge, but I don't want to make it too long, but I like
the slow tone and timeless. That's the difference with the Place Vendome stuff.
I also know that Dennis won't produce Unisonic like the albums of Place Vendome
neither Pink Cream 69, those bands have things of 80's, mainly Place Vendome with
that AOR and classic melodic hard rock. In that case, the sound would be more
fresh and modern...It's like for example, if I would sing on a solo album of Kai
Hansen, it would have a lot of things that sound like Helloween. If Kai composes
and I sing, there are not doubts to what it would sound like.
About
the future: Unisonic is the only thing I'm doing right now... I mean, I
have other more plans. I will have more in the future, I'm sure I would do another
solo album, mainly because I still have a deal signed, but well anyway it depends
if I can feel completely satisfied with the artistic level of Unisonic. Perhaps
I might not have a need to make one. But for example we already discarded a lot
of stuff we will not use for this first album, but well, I don't know if I will
use some of that stuff in my solo project. Dennis and Kosta are not making anything
with Pink Cream 69, at least this year, so Unisonic is also their priority. If
we make a really good album and the feedback is good, we can start touring for
the next year in a lot of places, and the position of the band to the future would
be really good. At that moment we're not worried about deals, sales, and those
things. The illusion is big and everything is working fine.

Kosta
Zafiriou about Unisonic
Kosta
Zafiriou made an interview for more-metal.com
after Unisonic show at the íà Sweden Rock Festival on June, 12:
A
summary of that interview:
About
the band and the future releases:
They
want it to be a real band and no project. The new album will probably be out at
the beginning of next year (a little bit later than planned), they apologized
a little bit, that the recording/song writing process takes some time. They started
as a real band 3 weeks back, when they did their first rehearsals and some jamming
and it was a great experience.
Kosta
Zafiriou: I was from the beginning on planned as a real band and not a
project. During the festival season or afterwards we are recording the demo and
search for a record label and the production will start afterwards.
They want to establish the band with several steps. With a lot of touring, recording
albums and so on.
Kosta
Zafiriou:We have 8 or 9 songs ready, but until now not recorded on a demo.
After the following festivals we will write more songs. Everyone is involved in
songwriting except me, since I have always worked more in the background. But
we have 3 very talented song writers in the band.
We
wanted to release an EP before the festivals. Sorry it didn't work out. But it
will be worth the waiting. We have already written fantastic song and some more
will follow. It's probably being the beginning of next year when the new album
will be released. Soon afterwards, we will go on tour and everyone is invited.
About
Sweden Rock Festival:
Kosta
Zafiriou: The gig was very good, but had some delay because of the storm
in Sweden and some security issues because of the broken down tower. It was a
fantastic experience for such a new band.
The
album version of 'A Little Time' has an effect part, but HELLOWEEN did in the
past also some jamming part during this song. So Michael came with this idea and
they tried this out during rehearsals. They all like JUDAS PRIEST. During the
high screaming parts the crowd really gets mad.
About
how will sound UNISONIC:
Kosta
Zafiriou:Since we did not want to release something which is not
worked out completely. That's why we didn't release demos until now or some stuff
on myspace. We did not really make a secret of the whole thing, but did not spread
too many rumors. But there were so many people out there who were curious how
the new material will sound. We have received lots of mails with questions, if
there are some HELLOWEEN songs or something similar. At that time we didn't know
exactly how UNISONIC will sound. When we did our first rehearsals everyone was
exited and smiled. It was a great experience.
